Help with the app
Personal data
Getting started
Do I have to create an account?
Yes, APPteczka works only with an account. On the welcome screen, choose Continue with Google, Continue with Apple (on iPhone and iPad) or Sign up with email – we will then send a six-digit code to that address. Already have an account? Choose I already have an account — sign in.
Which consents do I tick, and why?
Before you create an account, you tick two separate boxes: acceptance of the terms and conditions, together with a statement that you are at least 16, and consent to the processing of health data. You can’t create an account without both, because the app can’t remind you about medications without knowing anything about them.
When we change the wording of the consent, the app asks for it again. If you choose “I don’t agree”, your account is suspended – for 30 days you can sign in and give your consent. The details are in section 4 of the privacy policy.
How do I find my way around the app?
There are five tabs at the bottom of the screen:
- Today – your dose plan for today, grouped into morning, midday and evening;
- Medications – your medicine cabinet: medications, stock, packs and expiry dates;
- Family – family members, the shared cabinet and child profiles;
- History – the calendar and how consistently you take your medications;
- Premium – plans and purchase.
Open your profile and settings with the icon in the top right corner of the Today screen. The See how APPteczka works button on the welcome screen shows a short guide to the app.
How do I change the language or the cabinet country?
In your profile you’ll find Language and Cabinet country. The language applies only to the phone you’re using. The cabinet country determines which public medicines database APPteczka searches when you scan a code or type a name: for Poland, the Register of Medicinal Products; for Italy, AIFA open data. Everyone in the cabinet shares the country, and changing it doesn’t change medications you have already saved. If, for example, you also have medications bought in the other country, you can switch to that country for a while to add them.
I’m changing phones – will I lose my data?
No. Your medications, schedules and dose history are in your account. Sign in on the new phone the same way as before, and everything comes back. You can restore Premium on the Premium screen with the Restore purchases button.
Reminders
How do I mark a dose straight from the notification?
Expand the notification and tap Mark as taken (for a child’s dose: Given). If the dose stays unmarked, a second reminder arrives an hour later.
Reminders aren’t arriving – what should I check?
Start with Profile → Notifications → Test. The most common cause is battery saving. On Android, check in turn:
- whether the app has permission to send notifications (system Settings → Apps → APPteczka);
- on Android 12 and later, whether it has permission for exact alarms: Profile → Reminder timing; the app asks for it itself when you add your first medication with a schedule;
- whether the system is putting the app to sleep – in the battery settings, choose “Unrestricted” for APPteczka. On Xiaomi, Huawei, Samsung and OPPO phones this is usually the key.
On iPhone, check Settings → Notifications → APPteczka, and whether a Focus or Scheduled Summary is silencing notifications.
Do reminders work without the internet?
Yes. The phone itself sets the alarms, and your medicine cabinet is also stored on the phone. You need the internet to sign in, to use the scanner and medicines database suggestions, and to sync between devices.
Can the medication name be seen on the lock screen?
A reminder contains the medication name and dose and, for a child, the child’s name too. Reminders are marked as private: if you hide sensitive content on the lock screen in your phone’s settings, the phone shows only “APPteczka”. On iPhone, use the “Show Previews” setting.
Medications, scanner and packs
How do I add a medication?
On the Medications tab, choose Add medication. Scan the code on the pack or start typing the name: APPteczka suggests the medication from the medicines database of your cabinet’s country (for Poland, the Register of Medicinal Products; for Italy, AIFA open data). When the box has a 2D code (Data Matrix), it also carries the expiry date, so that fills itself in too; otherwise you enter the date yourself.
Food supplements: for Poland, APPteczka suggests names from the register of the Polish Chief Sanitary Inspectorate (GIS); for Italy, it looks up the barcode in the open Open Food Facts database.
Different doses at different times?
Each time has its own number of tablets, halves included. You can choose the days of the week on which you take the medication.
The scanner doesn’t recognize the pack – what should I do?
Cosmetics and some medical devices aren’t in any of the databases. In that case, type the name manually: we’ll remember it for that code, so next time the product will be recognized automatically. Don’t enter personal data in the name – other users will see it as a suggestion.
I have several packs of the same medication
On the medication’s card, choose Add a pack. Each box has its own expiry date and number of units, and your stock is their total. Doses come out of the box that expires first – it’s marked Take from this one. APPteczka lets you know when a pack has expired and when your stock is running low.
Where is the package leaflet?
In the details of a medication found in the medicines database. The Open the package leaflet button shows the leaflet published by that database (the Polish register or AIFA) inside the app – scroll it with your finger and spread two fingers to zoom in. For medications authorised across the EU (e.g. Dasselta) it’s the European Medicines Agency document, opened right at the leaflet. If a medication has no leaflet, there’s no button.
History
What does History show?
The share of doses taken in the last 7 days, your streak of complete days and a month calendar. Tap a day to see its doses with the times they were marked.
How do I correct a dose I marked late?
In History, touch and hold the dose on that day. You can mark it as taken (with the time), as skipped, or undo the mark – for example when you took your 23:00 medication after midnight.
Family and children
How do I create a family and invite family members?
On the Family tab, choose Create a family, then invite a family member with a QR code or a link. The invitation is valid for 24 hours. On the Family tab, the family member chooses I have an invitation — join, and someone in the family has to approve their request. Family is free; the free plan limits apply to the whole family.
What can family members see?
Every family member sees your name, avatar colour and email address, plus your plan for today: the medications on your schedule, their times and whether today’s dose has been marked. They don’t see your history from previous days. In a shared cabinet, family members also see all the medications, stock, photos of the packs and child profiles. With your own cabinet in the family (for example, Mum lives on her own), your list of medications and stock stay yours. The details are in section 6 of the privacy policy.
How do I add a child?
On the Family tab, in the Children section, choose Add a child. The child doesn’t need an account; the profile is for children under 16. With the first profile, you state that you are the parent or legal guardian and give separate consent for the child’s health data. Each parent turns on reminders about the child’s doses for themselves, in the child’s profile. Children’s schedules count towards the free plan limit.
How do I leave a family?
In your profile, choose Leave family. If you have your own cabinet, you take it with you. If you were in a shared cabinet, the medications stay with the family members, and your schedules are no longer visible to them.
Widgets
How do I add a widget?
The Today’s plan widget shows today’s doses, and Child’s plan shows the doses of a chosen child. They work on Android 8.0+ and on iPhone with iOS 17 or later.
- Android: touch and hold the Home Screen → Widgets → APPteczka. You can also add a child’s widget with the Add widget button in the child’s profile.
- iPhone: touch and hold an empty area of the Home Screen → Edit → Add Widget → APPteczka. For the “Child’s plan” widget, then touch and hold it → Edit Widget → choose the child.
Premium and payments
What does Premium give me, and how much does it cost?
The free plan holds 5 medications in the cabinet and 3 medications with reminder schedules. Premium removes these limits for the whole family when one person has it.
- monthly: €2.99 (in Poland PLN 9.99);
- yearly: €19.99 (in Poland PLN 49.99), with the first 14 days free;
- lifetime: €49.99 (in Poland PLN 169.99), a one-off payment.
The price shown by the store before purchase applies; in other countries the store may show a different price or currency.
What happens when Premium ends?
No medications are deleted. Medications over the free plan limit are shown as locked, and their reminders – in children’s plans too – are paused until you renew Premium. Medications within the limit work as usual. By tapping a locked medication you can swap it with another and decide for yourself which medications stay active.
How do I cancel a subscription or restore a purchase?
You buy Premium in the store (Google Play or the App Store) and manage it there too – we don’t see your payment details. Cancel the subscription on Google Play (Payments & subscriptions) or, on iPhone, in Settings → your name → Subscriptions, at least 24 hours before the end of the period. The Restore purchases button on the Premium screen restores a purchase after you change phones.
Your data
How do I download my data?
Tap the profile icon in the top right corner of the Today screen and, in the Account section, choose Download my data. You’ll get all your data from the server in a JSON file.
How do I delete my account?
In your profile, in the Account section, choose Delete account. For an account with a password, you confirm with your password; for a Google or Apple account, by entering your email address. What disappears and what stays in the family is described on the account deletion page.
I’m giving my phone away – how do I delete my data from it?
In your profile, choose Data on this phone → Clear. Medications, dose history, photos and scheduled reminders will disappear from the phone, while the copy on the server stays and comes back when you sign in. Signing out alone leaves your medicine cabinet on the phone.

Does APPteczka replace my doctor?
No. APPteczka is a medication organizer — it is not a medical device and does not replace advice from a doctor or pharmacist. It doesn’t diagnose anything and doesn’t set doses. For treatment, follow your doctor’s advice and the package leaflet.
