Terms and conditions of the APPteczka app

In force from 11 October 2026. They apply to the APPteczka app for Android, iPhone and iPad.

1. Who provides the service

APPteczka is an app for managing your home medicine cabinet. It lets you plan when to take medications, receive reminders, keep an eye on stock and expiry dates and manage the cabinet together with your family, including for children. In Italy the same app is called Cappsula: it is the same product, from the same publisher.

The service is provided by Appifi Sp. z o.o., ul. Piotrkowska 276A, 90-361 Łódź, Poland, entered in the register of entrepreneurs of the Polish National Court Register (Krajowy Rejestr Sądowy), kept by the Sąd Rejonowy dla Łodzi-Śródmieścia w Łodzi, XX Wydział Gospodarczy KRS, under KRS number 0001150929, NIP 7252351636, REGON 540700682. In these terms, “we” means Appifi Sp. z o.o.

Contact: pomoc@appteczka.eu. For matters concerning personal data: rodo@appteczka.eu. You can also write to us by post at the company’s address.

2. This is not a medical device

APPteczka is a medication organizer — it is not a medical device and does not replace advice from a doctor or pharmacist.

The app doesn’t diagnose anything and doesn’t set doses. Make decisions about treatment with your doctor or pharmacist. Don’t rely solely on reminders when taking your medications (section 10).

3. What you need to use the app

  • a phone with Android 8.0 or later, or an iPhone or iPad with iOS/iPadOS 15 or later (widgets on iPhone and iPad require version 17 or later);
  • the app downloaded from Google Play or the App Store;
  • internet access to create an account, sign in and sync (reminders work offline);
  • an email address or a Google account and, on iPhone and iPad, also an Apple account;
  • permission for notifications on your phone, if you want to receive reminders.

The app is available in English, Polish, Italian, Spanish and French: you choose the language in your profile, on your phone. In your profile you also choose the cabinet country, which determines the public medicines database used for suggestions and for the scanner (currently Poland or Italy). We provide these terms in English and reply to messages in English or Polish.

4. Account

The app works only with an account. The contract for the use of the app is concluded when you create an account. You create it with an email address and password (you then confirm the address with a six-digit code sent by email) or with Google or Apple. When you create the account, you tick two separate boxes:

  • acceptance of these terms and conditions, together with a statement that you are at least 16;
  • consent to the processing of health data, described in the privacy policy.

Age. You must be at least 16 to create an account. A child under 16 can have only a profile in APPteczka that is managed by a parent or legal guardian in their own account (section 6).

Give a real email address. Protect your password from other people. One account belongs to one person. We change your email address on request sent to pomoc@appteczka.eu.

End of the contract. You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile → Delete account) or by writing to us. Deleting the account ends the contract. The privacy policy describes what then happens to your data. If you have a Premium subscription, cancel it separately in the store (section 7).

No consent to the processing of health data. If the app asks for your consent and you choose “I don’t agree”, your account is suspended: the app doesn’t sync health data with the server. For 30 days you can sign in again and give your consent. If you don’t, after 30 days we delete the account and its data, and the contract expires. If you gave consent in an older version and don’t accept the new one, the app signs you out and asks again the next time you sign in (details in section 4 of the privacy policy).

Blocking an account. We may block or delete an account if you seriously breach these terms, for example by trying to take over other people’s data or to disrupt the server. We will write to you first, unless we need to act immediately to protect other users.

5. Family

You can manage your medicine cabinet with your loved ones. Someone in the family shows you an invitation (a QR code or a link) valid for 24 hours, and someone in the family approves your request to join. Show the invitation only to people who should see your medication plan.

  • Shared cabinet – the family members in it share medications, packs, stock, photos and child profiles.
  • Own cabinet in the family – your medications stay yours.

In both settings, every family member sees the name, avatar colour and email address of the others and their dose plan for today with the marks (without the history from previous days).

Any family member can change the cabinet setting, including another family member’s: they can switch them to a shared cabinet or give them their own. When cabinets are combined into one shared cabinet, both people’s medications are merged and everyone in that cabinet can see them. Join a family only with people you trust.

You can leave the family at any time. The details are in the privacy policy.

Family is free. The free plan limits (section 7) apply to the whole family.

6. Child profiles

You can add to your medicine cabinet a child who is under 16 and doesn’t have their own account, and manage the child’s medication plan.

  • When you add a child profile, you state in the app that you are the child’s parent or legal guardian, and you give separate consent to the processing of data concerning the child’s health. The privacy policy describes the rules of this consent.
  • The child profile can be seen and changed by all the adults in the same cabinet. Any of them can mark the child’s doses.
  • Each parent turns on reminders about the child’s doses on their own phone.
  • The adults who manage the child’s plan are responsible for its accuracy. Always agree the child’s doses with a doctor.
  • When the child turns 16, they can create their own account.

7. Free plan and Premium

The free plan has no time limit. It includes reminders, widgets, family and child profiles, with these limits:

  • 5 medications in the cabinet;
  • 3 medications with a schedule. Adults’ schedules and children’s plans both count.

Premium removes these limits. When one person in the family has Premium, the limits disappear for the whole family.

Premium plans:

  • monthly – €2.99 a month (in Poland PLN 9.99);
  • yearly – €19.99 a year (in Poland PLN 49.99), with the first 14 days free;
  • “Lifetime” – €49.99 (in Poland PLN 169.99), a one-off payment with no renewals.

The price shown by the store before purchase applies. In other countries the store may show a different price or currency.

Trial period. The 14 free days of the yearly plan are an introductory offer of the store. It is available once per store account (Google or Apple). After the trial period the store charges the yearly price, unless you cancel the subscription in the store settings beforehand.

Payments. You buy Premium on Google Play or the App Store. The store is the seller you deal with. The store handles payment, receipts, renewals and refunds under its own rules. We receive confirmation of the purchase from the store and turn on Premium on that basis. We don’t see your card details.

Renewal and cancellation. The monthly and yearly plans renew automatically. You can cancel at any time in the subscription settings of Google Play or the App Store. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period – until then Premium keeps working. The stores usually require you to cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the period to avoid the next charge. Uninstalling the app or deleting your account doesn’t cancel the subscription in the store.

When Premium ends, nothing disappears.

  • All medications, packs, plans and history stay in the cabinet.
  • Medications over the free plan limit are locked. You see them in a separate section with a padlock.
  • Reminders for locked medications are paused, including in children’s plans. Bear this in mind if you rely on reminders.
  • You choose which medications stay active. You can swap a locked medication with an active one or delete it.
  • When you renew Premium, the lock disappears and the reminders come back.

Downloading your data and deleting your account always work, also without Premium.

The former “APPteczka Rodzina” plan. Before version 2.8.0 of the app (22 September 2026), the paid plan in Poland was “APPteczka Rodzina” (“APPteczka Family”), which was needed for a shared cabinet. From that version, family is free for everyone and Premium is the paid option. All accounts that existed on 22 September 2026 received “lifetime” Premium free of charge as a thank-you. It works like the “Lifetime” plan for as long as you have your account. If you have a subscription bought before this change, you can cancel it in the store’s subscription settings – your “lifetime” Premium stays.

8. Withdrawal from the contract

The account and the free plan are free of charge. You can end the contract for the use of the app at any time by deleting your account.

If you are a consumer, you can as a rule withdraw from a distance contract within 14 days without giving any reason. However, you buy Premium in the store, which is the seller. That’s why you request withdrawal from the purchase and a refund from Google Play or the App Store, and the store considers it under its own rules.

  • The “Lifetime” plan is digital content not supplied on a tangible medium. The right of withdrawal does not apply if performance began with your express prior consent before the end of the withdrawal period and after you acknowledged that you thereby lose the right of withdrawal (Article 38(1)(13) of the Polish Consumer Rights Act of 30 May 2014; Article 16(m) of Directive 2011/83/EU).
  • The monthly and yearly plans are a digital service provided as a subscription. You can cancel at any time in the store’s subscription settings, with effect from the end of the paid period. The store sets the rules for refunds of a period that has already started.

9. Content you enter and the shared code database

The data in your medicine cabinet belongs to you. We process it only to provide the service.

Shared code database. If a product with a barcode isn’t in the medicines databases and you give it a name, the code and that name (and the strength, form and manufacturer, if you enter them) go into a shared database. Other users will see this name as a suggestion when they scan the same code. By adding a name, you grant us a free, non-exclusive licence, unlimited in time and territory, to store it and show it to other users in this database.

Don’t enter personal data or offensive content in the product name. We may remove names from the shared database that are incorrect or breach these terms.

Your photos don’t go into the shared database. Photos of packs are seen only by you and the family members in the same cabinet.

10. Liability and safe use

  • Data from public databases is for information only. Information about medications comes from the public medicines database of the cabinet’s country (for Poland, the Register of Medicinal Products, and food supplements from the register of the Polish Chief Sanitary Inspectorate; for Italy, AIFA open data) and from the Open Food Facts database. We are not responsible for its content or how up to date it is. If in doubt, check the package leaflet and ask a pharmacist.
  • You are responsible for the accuracy of the medications, doses and times you enter (and, for a child profile, the adults who manage it). The app reminds you of what you enter.
  • Reminders depend on the phone. They may not arrive or may arrive late, for example when the phone is switched off, battery saving is on, notifications are muted, or permission for notifications or exact alarms has not been granted. Check these settings if you rely on reminders.

We do our best to keep the app and server running without interruption, but we don’t guarantee continuous availability. We will try to give advance notice of longer technical breaks in the app.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for health decisions made on the basis of the app, or for reminders that didn’t arrive for reasons on the side of the phone, operating system or network. These provisions don’t limit your rights as a consumer, including your rights under the rules on the conformity of digital content and services with the contract (section 12).

Risks on the internet. Using services over the internet involves risks, for example password phishing (fake messages and websites), malware or account takeover on an unprotected phone. Download the app only from Google Play or the App Store, lock your phone with a code and never give your password to anyone. We never ask for your password by email.

11. Rules of use

  • Don’t enter unlawful content or other people’s data without the right to do so.
  • Don’t try to access other people’s accounts or data, and don’t disrupt the server.
  • Don’t use the app for commercial purposes without our consent, for example to run a pharmacy.

12. Complaints

We are responsible for the app’s conformity with the contract – both on the free plan and on Premium. If the app doesn’t work as we describe it, send a complaint to pomoc@appteczka.eu or by post to the company’s address. Describe what doesn’t work and give the email address of your account. We will reply within 14 days.

If you are a consumer, you have the rights provided for contracts for the supply of digital content and digital services (Directive (EU) 2019/770; in Poland, Chapter 5b of the Consumer Rights Act). You can demand that the app be brought into conformity with the contract. If we don’t do so, or the lack of conformity recurs or is significant, you can – on the terms laid down by law – demand a price reduction or withdraw from the contract. A price reduction and refund for Premium are carried out by the store where you bought the plan.

Complaints about payments (for example a double charge) and refund requests should be made to the store where you bought the plan.

13. Out-of-court dispute resolution

If you are a consumer living in Poland, you can get free help from your municipal or district consumer ombudsman (rzecznik konsumentów) or the regional inspectorate of the Trade Inspection (Inspekcja Handlowa), including mediation and permanent consumer arbitration courts. You can find information at uokik.gov.pl.

If you are a consumer living in another EU country, Iceland or Norway, for a dispute with us – a company based in Poland – you can get free information and help from the European Consumer Centre in your country, part of the European Consumer Centres Network (ECC-Net: list of centres).

Using these options is voluntary and doesn’t affect your right to go to court.

14. Personal data

The rules for processing data, including health data and children’s data, are described in the privacy policy. You give consent to the processing of health data separately, not by accepting these terms. You give consent to the processing of a child’s health data separately, when you add the child profile.

15. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms for important reasons: changes in the law, new or withdrawn features, changes in prices or plans, or the need to improve security. We will tell you about the changes in the app or on the appteczka.eu website at least 14 days before they take effect. If you don’t agree with them, you can delete your account before that date. Price changes don’t apply to a period you have already paid for.

16. Final provisions

The contract is governed by Polish law. If you are a consumer, the choice of Polish law doesn’t deprive you of the protection afforded to you by the mandatory provisions of the law of the country of your habitual residence (Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 593/2008, “Rome I”). Disputes are settled by the court that has jurisdiction under the general rules.

If you are a consumer living in the European Union, you can bring proceedings against us in the courts of the place where you are domiciled, and we can bring proceedings against you only in those courts (Article 18 of Regulation (EU) No 1215/2012).

We also apply the consumer provisions of these terms to a natural person running a business who uses the app for a purpose not directly related to that business, to the extent provided for in the Polish Consumer Rights Act.

17. Licences and sources

  • Polish Register of Medicinal Products – public data (rejestry.ezdrowie.gov.pl);
  • register of food supplements of the Polish Chief Sanitary Inspectorate (GIS) – public data;
  • Source: AIFA – Agenzia Italiana del Farmaco, Open Data (“Liste dei farmaci”, aifa.gov.it), processed data – licence CC BY 4.0; the source of medication data for cabinets set to Italy. We process the data (for example we separate strength and number of units) and show it for descriptive purposes: it is not an official AIFA document, and AIFA does not endorse or support APPteczka;
  • Open Food Facts – product data under the ODbL licence and photos under the CC BY-SA licence (openfoodfacts.org);
  • qrcode-generator library – MIT licence;
  • Bricolage Grotesque and Schibsted Grotesk fonts – SIL Open Font License.

18. History of changes

  • Current version (in force from the date at the top of this page) – first English version. It corresponds to the Polish version of the terms in force from 5 October 2026, with prices in euro and in Polish zloty (PLN), the app language and cabinet country, the AIFA data source, and the rights of consumers living in other EU countries.
